A New Year, new inspiration.
A new year and new inspiration. I just had to add these photos of yarn spun from wool by a fellow Etsy seller Vicky T Hunt.
I am not a spinner or knitter, but every time I see yarn this gorgeous I wish I was.

Another cuff

Thank God it's Friday
Rae has a bag made from a recycled blanket, I love that idea, but I think it will be a plushie, and maybe a bag and.........
"Made to standard wartime specifications", I LOVE THE LABLE!
Gelati drying in the sun, I love seeing it on the line. Winter time it sits on the vents to dry, it's not the same.
Sooo busy, I will be glad to sleep in. Just a little of what I've done today on the line drying. Gelati colourway again going to The Thread Studio. I've also been dyeing vintage blankets. I'm especially fond of this one we found in an op shop in Tassie. I think we dug it out of the dog blanket bin!

Uploading photos
Felt Sample with Rae's velvet. If you start felting gently with cool water it felts in a treat.
Uploaded a heap of photos to Flickr finally. Blew the photo allowance. I've been meaning to get to it for ages. Hope you enjoy the viewing. Got the cuff done for Matisse, post that photo tomorrow.

Finishing off day
Verdigris for Dale.
Chicken finally finished, unlikely to lay anything edible.
I enjoyed using lime velvet dyed by Rae to embellish the chook.
Just working it out, this was a hand dyed blanket offcut.
As promised, the chicken is done! Just realized, making soft toys is my least favorite sewing thing.
Mixed into finishing this chicken was a quick dyeing job for Dale from The Thread Studio. This is her new commissioned colour from me called Verdigris. I think I have had four goes at getting this one right, and I am still not sure. There were so many possibilities. Anyway, it's dry and about to go out in the mail.

Spiraldyed Downunder
Finally! My first blog. This is an informal yack about all things textile and my part of the world. I will post photos and info about workshops, what I am working on, other artists information and respond to questions.
Today is the day to finish a plushie I have been making for my daughter Brianna to give to her friend Mya for Christmas. Bri decided that her four closest friends needed personalized presents. I like that idea, so she has designed the doll and I am the mug making it. Iona is to receive a journal, Matisse is a piece of jewellery and Sophie loves corn? An American lollie I think. Another plushie.
Any way, photos will be forthcoming.
On another note, I started this blog partly because I was at the Rose Street Market last Saturday and was blown away by the talent there and variety of handmade items. I just wanted to rave about it and encourage anyone to seek it out. It is open both Saturdays and Sundays. Try the little on site cafe too, the owner's mum makes the food so its homemade not factory bought and divine. Damn good coffee too.
First photo successfully published is a felted bracelet embroidered and embellished with an antique button.
